A group of trekkers dedicated to protecting the environment and ecology of Goa and wherever else we may trek.Mapusa-based Eco-Treks Goa has succeeded in effecting a reassuring resurgence of trekking and adventure sports locally. Every month, a trek unearths the sheer glamour of Goa’s hidden spots bedecked with green splendour, where nature overwhelms as mist drapes the lofty and emerald peaks nestling in a vast panoramic expanse.Come rain or sunshine, we expose Goa’s trekkers to breath-taking landscape,waterfalls and high altitude vistas scheduled in our well planned and nature-linked adventure calendar.Our trek verily tends “to be a less-structured sort of travel, guided by weather conditions and contoured by topography”. Treks, so far, have explored high altitude natural spots, waterfalls and river sources which lie ensconced in their green glory - Virdi, Vagheri, Tambddi Surla, Morpirla-Dhabem, Cabo de Rama, Bhirondem Farm in Goa.Beyond the borders, we have been to Chorla Ghat, Redi, Malwan and to touristy destinations like Pratapgarh, Raigarh, Mahableshwar, Panchgini, the majestic Himalayas above Manali and the like. Alongside adventure thrills, well informed persons like environmentalist Shri Rajendra Kerkar, sculptor-trekker Sachin Madge, history researcher Prajal Sakhardande and others are always at hand with backup knowledge on nature, wildlife, conservation, history, etc.Our accumulated visual experiences have found documentation in two well- received photographic exhibitions under the series “Hills to Himalayas”; the third edition has been planned for mid-September at the popular Gallery Attic in Panjim.
Our growing FaceBook fellowship comprising artists, doctors, teachers, professors, lawyers, researchers, media persons, students and celebrities from various fields, is kept in the know of the latest adventure-laden trek.
Within days of the trek, members busily upload exciting photographs to (the) FaceBook, which builds up the portfolio for the annual “Hills to Himalayas” photography exhibition.
Above all, trekker safety is the cornerstone of every Eco-Trek, ensuring it is as a pleasurable outdoor activity without any mishaps.
Having secured affiliation to the Indian Mountaineering Foundation, Delhi, we are already in the second year, organising the glamorous Himalayan Trek.
