C horla Ghat offers some of the most challenging trails for avid trekkers and there is no other time better than the monsoon season to explore the mystery of the dense forests that we see while travelling from Goa to Belgaum. Chorla is a part of the bio- diversity- rich Western Ghats in the Sahyadri mountain range which lies in Goa and is a virtual treat for those seeking moderate to wild adventures.
In the monsoon, many of the fresh water springs and waterfalls come to life in the lap of Chorla Ghat.
Charavane, which lies at the base of the Chorla Ghat, is one such place to experience abundant nature and bountiful milky waterfalls which spring to life during this time of the year. And for avid trekkers, Chorla Ghat offers some of the most exciting downhill and uphill jungle trails filled with the thrills of losing yourself in the wilderness for a day. Eco Treks organized a trek to a waterfall in Charavane to explore this bounty of nature, but not before walking through an arduous four- kilometer trail downhill crossing streams and rivulets.
It was the 55th trek for Eco Treks and its fourth trip to Charavane from Chorla Ghat. Seventy- five trekkers from Panjim and Mapusa drove to Chorla Ghat in two buses. After a short tea break atop the ghat and the customary introductory speech of its founder member
Durgadas Parab, the group set for Charavane amidst the dense forest guided by leaders of Eco Treks.
The trail offered trekkers with some of the most picturesque views of nature that we normally miss while crossing the Chorla Ghat. Once at the waterfall, trekkers didn’t miss an opportunity to soothe their tired feet by standing at the foot of the alluring waterfall. And for those who decided to lose their self to the gush of the cold water took home bigger memories of Charavane.
